NASA Software Catalog Puts Agency Solutions at Innovators’ Fingertips

(NASA Explore) NASA’s latest open Software Catalog, released Wednesday, offers more than 1,200 downloadable codes developed by agency engineers that could enable faster solutions to energize the space economy and stimulate American ingenuity. The catalog is part of NASA’s effort to place advanced technologies, including agency software, into the hands of businesses, researchers, and entrepreneurs to foster economic growth and innovation. UK reveals future fighter demonstrator design, advances GCAP tech de-risking

(Breaking Defense) Lead industry partners BAE Systems, Rolls Royce and MBDA UK, alongside the UK MoD, have jointly unveiled Britain’s future fighter demonstrator design, in line with a 2027 first flight target. This demonstrator will be the “flagship” aircraft critical to de-risking new technologies set to be equipped on the trilateral Global Combat Air Programme (GCAP) next generation platform, the UK Royal Air Force (RAF) in a statement today. Taking a whole society approach in defence spending will maximise UK growth opportunities

(New Civil Engineer) Headlines around the SDR, which was published at the start of June 2025, centred around the new facilities and weapons planned to deliver on the promise to make the UK “secure at home, strong abroad”. What there was less focus on was the 440,000 jobs the investment will create directly within the defence sector and supply chains that serve it, as well as the concept of “a whole of society approach” that the document introduces. The Perseid meteor shower kicks off summer ‘shooting star’ season this week. Here’s how to see it

(Space.com) Each summer, amateur astronomers from all over the world look forward to observing the famous Perseid meteor shower, but often overlook four lesser showers that reach their peak between July 29 and Aug. 16. This year, a waning gibbous moon three days past full moon phase will seriously hamper the Perseid meteor shower, so why not take this opportunity to try and view the other four, all but one of which will enjoy dark skies? Summertime meteors, occasionally flitting across your line of sight, are especially noticeable between early-July and the final week of August.
