AFRL, Texas Space Commission Ink Deal to Fast-Track Commercial Space Tech for Defense
(ExecutiveGov) The Air Force Research Laboratory has formalized a partnership intermediary agreement with the Texas Space Commission aimed at speeding the adoption of commercial space technology into national security systems, the U.S. Space Force announced Friday. The partnership creates a structured channel for tapping Texas’ commercial space sector to support the U.S. Space Force. Officials said the arrangement is designed to move new capabilities into service more quickly, strengthen technology transfer efforts and shore up the financial standing of the domestic space industrial base. Priority Open Recommendations: Department of Homeland Security
(U.S. Government Accountability Office) In May 2025, GAO identified 39 priority recommendations for the Department of Homeland Security (DHS). Since then, DHS has implemented five of these recommendations. GAO also closed two recommendations that were no longer valid. In July 2026, GAO identified an additional seven priority recommendations, bringing the total to 39. GAO is highlighting the following three areas that warrant timely and focused attention: Improving disaster preparedness and response, Enhancing information technology and cybersecurity, and Strengthening immigration and border security policies and data. DoD building AI tools to predict, mitigate risks to sustainment supply chain
(Federal News Network) In the U.S. military, as in the private sector, the logistics business is foundationally a data business. Consequently, Defense officials think it’s one of the next logical areas to begin leveraging AI to help commanders inform their decision-making. In January, the Defense Innovation Unit awarded two contracts to start building prototypes for DoD’s forthcoming Joint Sustainment Decision Tool. One of the main goals is to use AI to move the military more in the direction of predictive logistics, anticipating potential challenges and proactively planning around them before they happen. Space Systems Command Official Highlights Project Enigma’s Benefits to Strategic SATCOM Advancement
(ExecutiveGov) Project Enigma is transforming how Space Systems Command develops satellite communications capabilities, giving government and industry partners a secure, unified digital workspace to co-create solutions at the highest classification level, according to Dean LoNigro, chief of cyber threat response and information system security manager for the U.S. Space Force System Delta 88.
