SUMMARY:2023 Cost Challenge: Team Quantech
DESCRIPTION:2023 Cost Challenge Presentation: Grand Prize Winning Team Quantech\nThursday\, June 15\, 2023 \n12:00-1:00pm eastern \nRSVP at https://us02web.zoom.us/meeting/register/tZUkde2tpzsuHNN-pdXlVtq8To1imWqIZl0q \n \nThe teams competing in the 2023 ICEAA Cost Challenge faced a ponderous question: how much does our cycle through life cost? How will the cost curves change from milestone to milestone\, from birth to death? What risks or uncertainty need to be considered? What outliers or other unexpected elements will impact the project we call being alive\, and what external societal costs or circumstantial benefits should we consider when looking at\, well\, everything? \nOur rising estimators defined their ground rules and assumptions\, the context of their estimate\, and presented in current fiscal year US dollars. Items that may have been taken into consideration are government assistance\, taxes\, US population\, life expectancy\, and elements surrounding education\, health\, occupation\, lifestyle\, or other statistics. Our teams presented their solutions for a panel of judges at the 2023 ICEAA Professional Development & Training Workshop\, and the first team to share their estimate will be the 2023 grand prize winning Team Quantech! \nThursday\, June 15\, 2023 \n12:00-1:00pm eastern \nRSVP at https://us02web.zoom.us/meeting/register/tZUkde2tpzsuHNN-pdXlVtq8To1imWqIZl0q

SUMMARY:Washington Capital Area Chapter July 2023 Virtual Luncheon
DESCRIPTION:Washington Capital Area Chapter July 2023 Luncheon:\nInnovative Risk-Driven Contract Pricing Strategy\nJuly 31\, 2023 | 12:00-1:00pm (eastern) \nInnovative Risk-Driven Contract Pricing Strategy by Brian Flynn\, Peter Braxton\, and Bob Nehring of Technomics\, Inc. \nJoin the WCAC as it welcomes the 2023 ICEAA Paper of the Year winners\, Brian Flynn\, Peter Braxton\, and Bob Nehring while they present their paper\, Innovative Risk-Driven Contract Pricing Strategy. \nEffective contract pricing strategy helps enable the achievement of best value-for-money in defense procurement. But any strategy\, to be effective\, must align with exigencies of the development of production effort. There’s no one-size-fits-all. More specifically\, selecting a contract type\, such as cost-plus or fixed price; a package of incentives (such as event- or calendar-driven); and share lines (above and below target) that are appropriate for a contract requires careful consideration\, measurement and assessment of risk factors and uncertainties. These include: \n\nStability of Requirements. Degree of firmness and completeness.\nMarket Forces. Degree of competition.\nMaturity of Technology. Degree to which the platform and systems push the state-of- the-art and are technically feasible.\nContractor Readiness. Degree of contractor experience with the design and build of the same or similar systems.\nPrice Validation. Extent to which a contract’s target cost and price have been estimated independently\, outside the influence of the project office or contractor.\nSchedule. Likelihood of failing to meet schedule plans and the effect of that failure.\n\nThis paper presents a scoring framework that quantifies the influence of these factors and\, thus\, provides a numerical basis for the determination of recommended contract geometry for upcoming procurements. \nSpeaker Bios\nBrian Flynn supports national security efforts at Technomics’ Arlington\, Virginia\, headquarters. He has a deep understanding of and strong working relationships with many of the cost and operations research organizations in the U.S. DoD and the NATO Alliance. His areas of expertise include capability portfolio analysis and AoAs\, weapon system and software cost estimating – including the cloud\, EVM\, econometric modeling\, and corporate financial health. Dr. Flynn has undying pride in his service as a Marine. \nDistinguished mathematician\, scientist\, statistician\, and polymath\, Peter Braxton is an international authority in the discipline of defense cost analysis. He’s commonly regarded as a man of mental capabilities that far surpass those of mere mortals in the profession. He’s the winner of multiple best-paper awards\, and has taught extensively at government\, corporate\, and society training events throughout the United States\, Canada\, Europe\, and Australia. Peter Braxton: he covers your back and tightens your slack. \nRobert Nehring is a project manager for Technomics\, where he has developed many tools\, data visualizations\, databases\, and cost estimates for programs throughout DoD and DHS. He is an ICEAA-Certified Cost Estimator/Analyst who has won many awards\, including the ICEAA 2013 Cost Estimator/Analyst of the Year for Technical Achievement and Best Conference Paper at the 2012 SCEA/ISPA Workshop. He also developed the innovative Galaxy Chart concept and many other models and tools throughout his career. \n\nCall-in Information\nJoin on your computer\, mobile app or room device \nClick here to join the meeting \nMeeting ID: 280 964 754 486\nPasscode: UWap8Z \nDownload Teams | Join on the web \nOr call in (audio only) \n+1 253-336-6031\,\,193772210# United States\, Tacoma \nPhone Conference ID: 193 772 210#

SUMMARY:Ferryfield Group Presents: Road-mapping to Project Risk Modelling Maturity: Integrating Cost and Schedule Risk Analysis
DESCRIPTION:The Ferryfield Group presents:\nRoad-mapping to Project Risk Modelling Maturity:\nIntegrating Cost and Schedule Risk Analysis\nDoug Oldfield\nJanuary 18\, 2024  |  12:00-1:00pm (east) \nProject risk analysis often involves silos of cost estimators\, planners\, and risk managers producing independent forecasts for cost uncertainty\, duration uncertainty\, and risk exposure. However\, recommended best practice on large projects is an integrated cost & schedule risk analysis model\, which many organisations struggle to implement. \nThis hands-on presentation will begin by exploring the techniques – and challenges – involved in building quantitative project risk models from the perspective of cost and schedule separately. We’ll then look at how we can bring the two disciplines together in a holistic model\, by using a shared risk register\, and by linking costs to activities in a schedule. Finally\, we will see the results of the analysis\, and explore how organisations can leverage these insights to better achieve project objectives. \nSpeaker: Doug Oldfield \nDoug Oldfield has been working in the field of quantitative risk analysis (QRA) for more than 15 years. He has a huge amount of experience of tools & techniques for modelling risk\, across a wide range of industries and applications. He is a passionate\, engaging\, and energetic advocate of the importance of probabilistic risk analysis\, and estimates he’s delivered more than 1\,600 presentations on the topic to audiences worldwide. He previously worked for Palisade\, who were the makers of the @RISK software\, and is currently a Director of The Ferryfield Group\, who provide specialized services in the field of project risk analysis\, including training\, consulting\, and software advisory / sales / distribution. \nRSVP online: https://us02web.zoom.us/meeting/register/tZ0kduqvrz4jH929eUPy06adTu1_RZFIejD_

If material checks for things like errors\, iffy references\, hardcodes\, and more were done automatically it would free you up to look at the things that really matter. That is what PerfectXL makes possible\, join the demo to find out how! \nPresented by Joel Steendam \nJoel has been working in the spreadsheet risk space for 6 years\, between consulting\, training\, and onboarding new clients he loves to give presentations on this topic at various events and seminars.
