DESCRIPTION:Please join us for this month’s Washington Capital Area Chapter (WCAC) International Cost Estimating and Analysis Association (ICEAA) Luncheon:  \nSUBJECT: WCAC ICEAA December Luncheon: Schedule Risk at Early Acquisition\nPRESENTED BY: Sam Kitchin and Gabriella Magasic\, Augur Consulting\nTIME: December 9\, 2025 | 12:00 to 1:00pm Eastern \n  \nSUMMARY:\nIt can be difficult to construct a realistic schedule early in the acquisition lifecycle due to the limited certainty of requirements\, design decisions\, and other key elements of program planning. Understanding risk and uncertainty in a schedule is essential\, and the GAO Scheduling Guide includes “Conducting a Schedule Risk Analysis” as one of the 10 Best Practices. A Schedule Risk Analysis (SRA) can provide quantitative insight into potential areas of delay along with associated cost impacts. However\, a well-formed SRA requires clear input and structured analysis of risk events and uncertainty. In this presentation\, we will discuss how to address schedule risk in low maturity projects by investigating different risk modeling techniques\, reviewing existing guidance on schedule risk\, and analyzing how uncertainty analysis must be interpreted and applied early in the project lifecycle. \nThis briefing was originally presented at the 2024 ICEAA Professional Development & Training Workshop. \n  \nSpeakers: \nGabriella Magasic – Gabriella Magasic is a Deputy Portfolio Manager at Augur Consulting with over 5 years of experience in government acquisition. She started her career as a cost analyst for Navy Explosive Ordnance Disposal programs\, however her primary focus has since transitioned to developing schedules and risk analyses to support Navy High Energy Laser programs. Gabriella graduated from Virginia Tech with a BA in Economics and earned an MA from George Washington University in Applied Economics. \nSam Kitchin – Sam Kitchin is the Technical Director at Augur Consulting with more than 12 years of experience in government acquisition. He has performed cost analysis for a broad range of projects within the Department of Defense and the Department of Energy. In his current role\, he oversees training and implementation of cost estimating\, schedule analysis\, and performance management best practices within Augur. Sam graduated from Wake Forest University with a BS in Mathematical Business.
